Breakfast
There are several restaurants in the area that serve breakfast. Andrew’s Harborside restaurant is at the head of the foot bridge and is a popular spot for locals.  The Andrews family is a local family and has been in the business for many years.  I especially like the french toast but their most well known for their cinnamon buns.

Mamma D’s. My kids swear this is the best place for breakfast in town.  Brad loves the Spanish omelette.  The Belgian waffles look yummy.  I might eat breakfast out once a year but someday I would like to try this place.

Each Thursday morning the farmer’s market sets up on the Boothbay Common.  There are several vendors with baked goods that include muffins, scones, and pastries.  This is a great way to start the day, pick up some locally grown produce, and grab a breakfast treat.  Beat the crowds and get there early. Check out their Facebook page for more information. There is also a flyer in our local information binder.

If you are an early riser looking for coffee and pastries then Baker’s Way may be your best bet.  They have donuts, muffins, and the usual selection of baked goods.  It won’t knock your socks off but, other than the Irving station, it is the only place open early.

Other popular breakfast destinations include The Blue Moon and Red Cup. Both of these are just down the hill on Commercial Street. Red Cup has all those fancy coffees that I don’t know much about, but if you do, that’s where you want to go.

Looking for an out of town experience?  Try a short drive to Damariscotta.  Start the day with breakfast at Crissy’s and they walk around town and visit the shops. Also in Damariscotta, Weatherbird has great scones, croissants, muffins, and amazing truffles, not that you would want those for breakfast!

Lunch and Dinner
David swears the Boathouse Bistro has the best fried haddock ever.  The burgers are good and so is the risotto. This restaurant has more variety than traditional New England fare. If you are getting tired of the standard fried seafood and steamed lobster menu you might want to give them a try. It’s open year round and we eat here pretty regularly.

The Thistle is a “special occasions” restaurant.  It has great atmosphere.  The broiled scallops are always good as is the fried haddock.  We stop in for happy hour often.  The menu is on the short side and changes with the season.

The Lobster Dock is on my summer bucket list.  I have heard great things but haven’t ventured over to the other side of the harbor yet.  Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

The best sandwiches anywhere can be found at the East Boothbay General Store.  Try the pulled pork sandwich or the Ocean Point club. The pizza is good too.

If you are craving Asian food,  my favorite take out is Best Thai in Damariscotta. It is convenient for me on my way home from work in Rockland. They also have one in Bath. I have family from out of town that love to eat at China by the Sea but that has not been my experience. Baker's Way is pretty good but can be inconsistent. I'm not familiar with the Wok and Grill.

Sarah’s Scoops has Maine made ice cream from Giffords.  Giffords is my favorite ice cream, hands down.  When Sarah’s is closed we get it from Hannaford.  My favorite flavor is Deer Tracks.  It has a coffee base with heath bar and chocolate swirled throughout. You can find Sarah’s just beyond Hannaford, across from the Irving station.

The Ice Cream Factory on the pier is an intown favorite.  Try their make your own sunday and the chocolate dipped waffle cones, made on site.

Orne’s Candy Store has Maine made chocolates and fudge.  The dark chocolate almond bark and the dark chocolate peanut clusters are the best. Try the chocolate and peanut butter fudge combo.

Eventide is just down the hill.  So convenient that you will want to go there every day for fresh bread, cheese, and Maine made butter. The cranberry pear vinegar and lemon olive oil are my favorite salad dressing.  I mix it three to one in the bottom of the salad bowl, add a little salt, then throw in my salad greens and toss to coat.
