Activities
Here are some suggestions.
- Visit Monhegan Island for the day. The boat leaves from Pier 8 just at the bottom of Boothbay House Hill.
- Have lunch on Cabbage Island with Cabbage Island Clambakes. The boat leaves from Pier 6, under Fisherman’s Wharf.
- Rent canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards from Tidal Transit or take one of their guided tours.
- Visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
- Spend the day at Barrett’s Park. Take a lunch and some chairs.
- Take a road trip to one of our nearby beaches, Reid State Park, Popham Beach State Park, and Pemaquid Beach.
- Drive over to Southport and spend the day at the Hendrick’s Head Lighthouse beach.
- Drive down to Grimes Cove and park the car in their public lot. Walk the oceanside loop around the peninsula.
- Visit the aquarium.
- Catch the boat to Burnt Island for their lighthouse tour.
- Take the historical society walking tour.
- Visit the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.
- Hike one of the Boothbay Region Land Trust trails.
- Drive to nearby Damariscotta and walk through the shops. Have dinner in one of their great restaurants; Best Thai, the Public House, or Damariscotta River Grill.
- Take a power walk to McKown Point or Spruce Point Inn.
- Catch some local entertainment at the Opera House, McSeagull’s, Mine Oyster, or Robinson’s Wharf. Check the local paper for schedules.
- Ride the trolley. It’s a great way to get the lay of the land. The drivers work for tips.

- Visit the Villard Studio down town and learn about woodblock printmaking.
- Catch the Squirrel Island Ferry for a one hour harbor cruise. The boat leaves from Pier 8.
